  • We enjoy our yearly visits to Fossil & our stays at the Fossil Motel. Remodeling continues and it's nicer every time we visit! Room 3 was completed recently and we were so impressed with the new EVERYTHING (Floors, paint, fixtures, furniture, bathroom, kitchenette) top to bottom. Great staff as always and very accommodating. Small town life at its best here.

  • This is an excellent small motel. The owners are doing a very nice renovation, with many modern features. I was particularly impressed by the first class Carrier split A/C unit, with the compressor outside, and the whisper quiet fan inside. The plexiglass "fishbowl" shower enclosure was a pleasant surprise. Everything was very clean. This is a beautiful place to enjoy rural Oregon.

  • Very clean little motel. Our family has stayed there many times. Good customer service - the owners really care about their guests. The mattresses have been upgraded and are very comfortable. Clean rooms, comfy beds, and hot showers…what more can you want? They have reasonable prices, and are pet friendly! We come back every year.

  • This motel has been remodeled and is clean and comfortable. Tim the owner was friendly and has put a lot of work into making it a nice place. There is a new restaurant a few blocks away that plans on expanding into a brew pub. It had good food. Cute little farm town with a small grocery store too.

  • What a wonderful place. Friendly folks! Rooms were clean, spacious with lots of coffee! We were between floating trips on the John Day. What a great place to stay while resupplying during stormy weather. Definitely a high point of our trip! I had left my glasses in the room, and the owner happily mailed these back to me at her expense! They truly go above and beyond!

  • Clean, nicely appointed room. We were initially going to camp, but had a problem with our trailer and converted to a motel room. The bed was comfortable. We were in #3 and used the coffee pot, refrigerator, microwave and even made grilled cheese on the hot plate. We saw deer and wild turkeys and it was an excellent base to use for exploring John Day Fossil Beds National Monument, especially the Clarno and Painted HIlls unit with a longer drive to Sheeprock. Tim, the owner, is very friendly and helpful, checking in whenever he saw us and giving us good local info. We would stay here again.

  • Great Visit to Fossil. The hotel was clean and well equipped! The linens and bedding were spotless. The complimentary soaps were really nice quality. The kitchenette in our room was super cute vintage and had more than enough kitchen equipment to prepare all your meals, if you wanted to! The hotel has a ton of midcentury charm, though they are remodeling and freshening up with cute farmhouse chic. The owner was friendly and made us very comfortable. I would definitely stay again next time I am in that part of the world.
